Public Talks & Podcasts

With over a decade of public speaking experience, I am well versed at presenting the science of the Sun, astronomy and eclipses to non-specialised audiences. Talk venues include astronomy festivals, museums, observatories, planetariums, independent bookstores, schools and local astronomical societies.

I have also appeared on numerous podcasts, including:

Solar Eclipses

Total solar eclipses are one of the most beautiful phenomena we can ever hope to witness on Earth. I am an eclipse expert, and aim to share the awe of eclipses far and wide.

My next book, 'Little Book of Eclipses', will publish in 2026. The book serves as a comprehensive guide for the history, science and safe observation of solar (and lunar) eclipses.

I have written non-specialist articles on eclipses for Collins Astronomy and space.com, and academic outreach articles published in the Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society[1][2]I have also been interviewed on the subject for National Geographic

In April 2024, I shared the wonder of the solar eclipse via social media, with school children along the Texas-Mexico border, and through co-hosting the U.S. National Science Foundation's eclipse livestream from beneath the shadow of the Moon.

2026 eclipse plans announcing soon.

Social Media

The Sun is forever changing. These changes, in the form of sunspots, solar flares and coronal mass ejections, create scenes of beauty on our local star, observed by telescopes on the ground and in space.

These events can also affect us here on Earth, most notably through the formation of solar storms that lead to the aurora/northern lights.

Using social media, I aim to share the stunning observations modern telescopes capture of the Sun, whilst providing notice for incoming displays of widespread aurora.
